Play Pool at City Lights

Sadly, Summer is almost over. Which means that Colorado is going to get pretty chilly, fast. If you are looking for a great indoor activity to get better at, why not try pool? We have a place for you to play right here at City Lights Apartments!

Pool is a pretty easy game to understand. You need at least 2 players, any more and you have to play in teams. After you break the table, you are either stripes or solids according to which was the first to get knocked in. You then try to put all of that type of ball in the pockets. If you get a ball in you get to go again, if not it is no longer your turn. (If you scratch, that is if the white cue ball goes in after your shot; it is no longer your turn.)

When all of you balls are in, you then get to try your luck on the 8 ball. If you scratch on this you lose. If you hit in the 8 before all your other balls, you lose. Some people like to make you call the pockets you are aiming for. I am not great so, I don’t do this.

I am always on the lookout for a great deal, but I don’t like spending hours looking through the racks for that perfect deal. That is why I love Shop It To Me. You sign up for a daily email that sends you deals from your favorite stores and designers. You can get a ton of great deals. Today, I am looking forward to a lovely Calvin Klein dress at Nordstrom.

Getting a great deal is always  important especially in the current economic times. This way, you get fabulous clothes without the price tag and the time spent to go to the mall.

There are a lot of great movies coming out at the end of July and I know that we have some movie fans here at City Lights, so what are you most looking forward to seeing? Below is a quick synopsis of the major films that are coming to theaters.

July 16th:

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice: Starring Nick Cage. Based on the beloved short in the Disney Movie Fantasia. The Sorcerer comes to New York to find someone who can help him defeat his nemeses. It got a 37 on Rotten Tomatoes.

Inception: Directed by Chris Nolan (Dark Night) and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page. This Sci-fi thriller asks us the question of if our dreams are our own. It makes the top of my list. Rotten tomatoes gave it a 86%.

July 23rd:

Salt: Starring Angelina Jolie, when a Russian source reveals her as being a double agent, Evelyn Salt must go on the run. But is she innocent?

Ramona and Beezus: Based on the beloved series by Beverly Cleary, it follows the story of 4th grade Ramona as she tries to save her home from danger.

July 30th:

Dinner with Schmucks: Starring funnymen Steve Carell and Paul Rudd. A man must bring an idiot to her bosses annual dinner.

Cats and Dogs: Revenge of Kitty Galore: Not sure why they made another, but see as cats and dogs take each other on.

Charlie St. Cloud: Starring Zach Efron, Zac plays a sailing protégé who puts his life on hold when his younger brother dies.

Make Your Space Feel Like Home

Before and after: toss pillows

Image by maureen lunn via Flickr

I love our floor plans here at City Lights Apartments, but I haven’t yet got that feeling at home. I think this is because I haven’t put up any accessories. If you are having a hard time making your place feel more homey, try these tips.

Accessorize: Throw pillows, blankets things that make your place feel more comfortable.

Personal stuff: Put up photos of your friends, mementos from your travels, anything that reminds you of good times.

Last but not least, make sure you have unpacked all your boxes and that everything has a place. Clutter can kill the feeling of home. If you have to, rearrange some things. But make sure that you put it back up.

We want you to stay in City Lights for a long time, so make it feel like home! And if there is anything we can do to help, please let the office know.
